7. On the next screen you can choose whether you want to disable mail synchronisation or not (MDaemon's ActiveSync server supports email synchronisation in 12.5.0 onwards).

If you are connecting to MDaemon's ActiveSync server over HTTPS (ie. WorldClient is accessible via https://) then leave 'This server requires an encrypted SSL connection' ticked, but if you aren't and have configured MDaemon's ActiveSync server to run on port 80 untick it.

Please note: it's important that your 'Username' value is only the bit before the @ sign in your email address as the Android device will construct the logon name it sends to MDaemon using both the 'Username' and 'Domain' values you provide.

If and when it fails it will give you the option of entering your Server host name yourself:

4. The phone will now try to work out what your server's hostname is which can take about a minute.

2.  Enter you MDaemon account details:

Configuring an Android Handset to use ActiveSync:1. In your Android phone choose All Programs -> Mail -> Exchange ActiveSync:

IMPORTANT: All first time syncs with ActiveSync are a one way sync from the server to the device. You will lose the data on the device when you sync with ActiveSync for the first time. This is an ActiveSync implementation requirement. Therefore, backup your device data before using ActiveSync for the first time. Most devices that support ActiveSync warn the user that "all device data will be lost," but some do not. Please handle ActiveSync with care.

Note that WorldClient will still run on the standard HTTP port it has always been configured to run (the default being port 3000) even though you've done this as as long as you specify HTTP and HTTPS in the 'Accept the following types of connections' option at Setup -> Web, Sync, & IM Services -> SSL & HTTPS.

An Android handset will typically attempt to connect to the MDaemon AirSync server over HTTPS/SSL initially and won't try to connect over standard HTTP until its automatic attempt has failed and you've specifically specified that it shouldn't use HTTPS/SSL in the ActiveSync settings following the failure. For this reason we'd recommend that WorldClient is configured to run over HTTPS at Setup -> Web, Sync, & IM Services -> SSL & HTTPS and the HTTPS port (TCP 443) port opened to the Internet. This article details the steps needed to achieve this -

ActiveSync is a web-service extension that only works on ports 80 (for http) and 443 (for https). ActiveSync cannot be used on other ports. ActiveSync will not work unless your web server (either WorldClient's built-in web server or another such as IIS) is running on port 80 and/or port 443. This is an ActiveSync implementation requirement.

Once enabled MDaemon will generate an ActiveSync 30 day trial key automatically. The ActiveSync server requires a one-time licence fee if you wish to continue using it beyond this point.

MDaemon's ActiveSync options are located at Setup -> Mobile Device Management -> ActiveSync in MDaemon 13 onwards (or Setup -> Web & IM Services -> ActiveSync in MDaemon 12) and it's necessary to enable ActiveSync in this location:

MDaemon Pro Version 12 onwards includes support for "ActiveSync for MDaemon," which is a separately licensed OTA ActiveSync (AirSync) server. This server is capable of synchronizing a user's default calendar and default contact data between his MDaemon/WorldClient/Outlook Connector account and an ActiveSync capable device.
